Sedation and Anesthesia
Feeling anxious about oral surgery is completely normal. Many patients feel more at ease knowing they have safe and effective options to help them remain comfortable throughout treatment.
At R. Anthony Murray, DDS, PA, we offer a range of sedation and anesthesia options designed to reduce anxiety, minimize discomfort, and ensure a smooth surgical experience from start to finish.

Our Sedation and Anesthesia Options
We tailor sedation based on the complexity of your procedure, your medical history, and your personal comfort level. During your consultation, Dr. Murray will review your options and recommend the most appropriate approach for your care.
Local Anesthesia
Local anesthesia is used for nearly all procedures and works by fully numbing the treatment area. You remain awake and alert, but you should not feel pain during the procedure.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative inhaled through a small mask placed over the nose. It helps you feel calm and relaxed while remaining conscious. The effects wear off quickly after treatment, allowing you to resume normal activities shortly after your visit.
IV Sedation
Intravenous sedation, also known as twilight sedation, provides a deeper level of relaxation and is administered directly into the bloodstream for fast, controlled effect. Many patients enter a sleep-like state and remember little to nothing about the procedure. Vital signs are closely monitored throughout treatment to ensure safety and comfort.
A Safer, More Comfortable Surgical Experience
Sedation and anesthesia allow us to perform procedures efficiently while prioritizing your comfort. Whether you are having a simple extraction or a more complex surgical procedure, we ensure that your experience is as calm and stress-free as possible.
Our team will review all instructions with you before your appointment, so you know exactly what to expect before, during, and after treatment.
